It was a great day for fishing, while it lasted..
16 Guys hit the Miramichi River for the first event in the 2018 NB Paddlers Fishing Series. The Stripers were biting, but the real battle was the high winds – that being said, our paddlers managed to pull in about 100 striped bass on the day, none bigger than Wilf Edmond who hauled in a 26.5 inch beaut. Landing Wilf in the top spot with the Lunker bonus, and placing bonus. Bryan Cawthra landed a 24.25 incher, and Rene Pelletier close behind with a 21.5 inch bass.
There was only one species caught this day, but for good reason, with the conditions you really had no time to switch lures, as you would be crashing into another boat or the shore by the time you did. For those who missed out on catching, or capturing a photo this tournament, no worries, as Bathurst promises to provide us with some more great opportunities to catch Striped Bass.
Still plenty of time to get involved in the series and improve on your Striped Bass length, our next event June 2nd in Harland will provide several chances at new species, as we target smallmouth bass!
