Two rivers merge into one. And we attribute that to a great day of paddling and fishing. From minnows to lunkers, fish big and small, we caught them all.
Young and old, old and young all came to join in the fun.
Conditions were amazing for today’s event. Some cloud cover to keep us all cooler, as well calm and clear waters.
Twenty one brave, excited anglers came to battle the Oromocto NB Paddlers Fishing Derby. And none other then the fish whisperer himself came out on top. John Cail, once again proved his skill and knowledge as he moved around the waters to land more then 10 species of fish. From the mighty pickerel which was the target, to a fair sized pumpkin seed, John caught them all. A close second place was Rene Pelletier, with six different species, including a massive 19″ eel. Taking up third place was Chris Bingham who walked away with a great prize from Strikeback Sportfishing Adventures, a 6hr bass boat tour. A prize that made many of us jealous. The good news is each angler walked away with a great prize from one of our amazing sponsors.
Our day couldn’t have happened without many great sponsors such as Eco Logical Adventures () who graciously allowed us to use their boat launch/dock and sponsored some prizes, as well the local Home Hardware, McDonalds, Town of Oromocto, and many others. We also have been sponsored by some great brands for the overall tournament, Dorion Sport Excellence, Scotty, Bending Branches, World Fishing Network, Paullyd.ca, Rapala, OutdoorsNB, Lunkerhunt, Landway Outdoor Sports, and Twigs & Reels. We at NBPFS are very greatful these companies decided to get invovled and sponsor us in various ways.
See you at the finals in Grand Bay!
